Without Contrast:

• No preparation is required

 
With IV Contrast:

• Creatinine must be done within 72 hours or within the day of the examination.
• NPO 4 hours prior to examination (NO FOODS OR DRINK)
• Ask the patient if he/she has allergies in foods and drugs.
• If the patient has allergies, he/she should first visit his/her doctor to obtain an allergy prescription before undergoing the CT Scan procedure.

 

For Female Patient:

• Must have a Pregnancy Test Result prior to examination.
• All women between the ages 13 and 55, or until they stop menstruating, must have a pregnancy test on or before the procedure.

• Present all the laboratory reports to the CT-Technologist.
• All previous medical examination reports, such as Ultrasound, X-Ray, CT-Scan, MRI, Nuclear Med, and Pet Scan reports, must be brought and shown to the technologist prior to exam for additional information and follow-up procedures.
