Role Objective:
To ensure the safe and effective dispensing of medications, provide expert pharmaceutical care, and offer patient counseling to promote optimal health outcomes. The pharmacist will play a key role in supporting healthcare professionals and enhancing patient wellbeing through precise medication management and consultation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately review and dispense prescribed medications while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Patient Counseling: Provide comprehensive counseling to patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
- Pharmaceutical Care: Assess, plan, and implement individualized pharmaceutical care plans for patients, in collaboration with healthcare providers.
- Inventory Management: Maintain and monitor pharmacy inventory, ensuring the availability of medications and managing expired or low-stock items.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all pharmacy laws, regulations, and ethical standards, ensuring safe practices and up-to-date knowledge of pharmaceutical protocols.
- Health Promotion: Educate patients and the community on health and wellness topics, including disease prevention, medication adherence, and lifestyle changes.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, such as medication safety audits, and contribute to the continuous improvement of pharmacy services.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, providing expertise and support in clinical decision-making and patient care.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Valid and current license as a Registered Pharmacist in the relevant state or country.
- Experience: Previous experience in a retail, hospital, or clinical pharmacy setting is preferred.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and therapeutic practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively counsel patients and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software and technology.
- Certifications: Additional certifications in areas such as immunization, diabetes education, or medication therapy management (MTM) are advantageous.
